Roster Role: 5.30 PM Sing 1

Edit

This role requires you to:

  • Cross-check the song roster with your music folder to make sure you have all the music you will need for each week you're rostered on. Please contact the office if you're missing anything.
  • Practise the rostered songs beforehand and seek help if you're not familiar or confident. Contact the Music Coordinator for direction on what the best available options might be, e.g. YouTube, recordings, extra rehearsal or tutoring, etc.
  • Music practise begins at 5pm, which means you need to arrive early enough to set up, tune and test the sound for your instrument BEFORE 5pm. Some music gear can be found in the Music Store Room, e.g. stands, miscrophones, leads, etc.
  • Liaise with the Service Leader as to which songs will be played together, and who will be responsible for introducing/segueing songs, and if there will be any other parts of the service where they'd like the band to play music.
  • During practise, work with the Tech person to make sure the lyrics match and the slides are in the correct order with the right number of repeats.
  • Practise the songs, finishing by 5.55pm at the latest.
  • During the service, sit close to the band area so it's easy and quick for you to get up and sit down, this will keep things running more smoothly. Start to get up a little before you're required if appropriate, e.g. as the Service Leader is linking the item before the next song, start making your way up; or as the Bible reading is finishing.
  • As the service ends, play one of the service's songs as brief background music, without singing.
  • After the service, pack away all your own belongings and the items belonging to the church, e.g. music stands, loose sheets of music, etc. Make sure the band area is left clean and tidy, including service outlines and other things that find their way into the band area.
  • Ensure the Music Store Room is locked when you're finished.
