Roster Role: 10am Kids Morning Tea

Edit

This role requires you to:

  • Provide food for all the children of 10am, preferrably including a variety of healthy and filling options but not limited to healthy things.
  • In your preparation, be mindful of the few intolerances and allergies we are aware of in our regular membership, particularly in reference to the 2 severe allergy plans posted in the kitchen. These 2 children are severly allergic to: peanuts, pecans, walnuts, codfish, shellfish, peas, beans and lentils. We are also aware of at least 1 gluten-free child.
  • Please arrive early to set up your food in the kitchen. Leave any packets to be opened in bowls, cold things in the fridge/freezer covered in cling wrap or in containers and other things on plates covered in cling wrap.
  • Show the Kids' Church Team what you have brought and they will ensure it goes out at the right time.
  • You are welcome to also ensure there are cups ready on the bench and jugs (with lids, nothing uncovered) of water and cordial in the fridge.
  • After the children have finished eating, please return everything to the kitchen, wash it and put it away. We encourage you to ask anyone standing around to help you with this task.
  • Ensure you take home any containers you brought with you and make sure all scraps and recylable packaging is discarded appropriately.
  • Make sure the benchtops are wiped down and nothing is left out in the kitchen before leaving.

Here's a handy list of suggestions:

  • Fresh fruit, pre-cut into appropriate, sharable portions.
  • Cheese, crackers (Jatz, rice, Shapes), dips and cabanossi.
  • Sandwiches with a variety of spreads or simple fillings, cut into quarters.
  • Popcorn (always put out twice as many cups when there's popcorn and encourage the children to take a cupful rather than a handful).
  • Cake (cut up), cupcakes, muffins, pikelets, chips (potato or corn) and sweet biscuits.
  • Lollies are generally discouraged for morning tea, but are very occasionally given out during the Kids' Church programs.
