Roster Role: 5.30 PM Supper

Edit

This role requires you to:

  • Bring enough food to cater for a regular number of people attending 6pm, including fresh milk. Please ensure that none of your food contains any of the items specified on the Anaphylaxis Action Plans displayed in the kitchen. Also, be mindful in your catering of those regular members who are gluten or dairy free.
  • Please use good hygenic practices in the preparation of anything home-made, or touched by hand before serving.
  • Please be careful of how you store and serve hot and cold food, in order to prevent the food spoiling before serving. For example, if you are serving frozen or hot food, please ensure you are preparing and serving it at appropriate temperatures and in good timing for when the service finishes so as to keep it as cold or as hot as it should be. Also, be careful not to serve hot food at a scalding temperature, serve with adequate warning.
  • 'The Box' in the corner of the kitchen is available for emergencies. It contains things like: microwave popcorn, chips, Jatz, etc. Likewise, there are cartons of longlife milk in the tea and coffee cupboard. We just ask that, at some point, you replenish anything that you use or contribute to that store of food when the next Ministry Shopping List is released.
  • Arrive before the service, giving yourself enough time to set up the trolley with the combination of things you'll need. E.g. cups, mugs, jug of water/cordial, teaspoons, teapot (to be filled with hot water later), tea, coffee, Milo/hot chocolate, sugar sachets, rubbish bowl (all on the top of the trolley) and plates/bowls of food (on the shelf underneath).
  • Also make sure there is a square table set up directly behind the middle of the back pews, ready for the food to be transferred to at the end of the service.
  • Liaise with the Service Leader to see if they'd like to change things up by having supper at the beginning or perhaps drinks/ice blocks before with a full supper after, etc.
  • Go into the kitchen a few minutes before the end of the service to fill the teapot with hot water and bring the trolley into the Auditorium.
  • Transfer the food to the table, and possibly the cold drinks, if more space is required on the trolley.
  • After people have been fellowshipping over your supper for a while, and things seem to be winding down, return everything to the trolley and wheel it back into the kitchen.
  • Wipe down and return the square table to the Foyer.
  • Check the floor under the supper area and give it a quick vacuum, if necessary.
  • Wash up and put everything away in its rightful place. Ensure all surfaces have been tidied and wiped down, please, even if you personally haven't used them. This is a good way to make sure ants don't become a problem and things that are missed by one group using our kitchen will be caught by another.
  • Give the kitchen floor a quick sweep.
  • Please take the used tea towels home to wash and return by the following Sunday.
